USA's foreign trade with China, exports to China and imports from China in November 2021

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In November China was USA's most important foreign trade partner. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. China's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in November 2021 represented a share of 15.5 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 10.3 % and 18.7 % of imports. Amounting trade to worth of $64.5 billion was 9.1 per cent bigger than in November of the previous year. In November the trade balance with China was $32.3 billion in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from China was 7.9 per cent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $48.4 billion. Major product categories of imports from China were Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76), representing 17.3 percent of imports, Sitc752 (automatic data-processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, n.e.s.) 12.3 % and Sitc894 (baby carriages, toys, games and sporting goods) 9.2 % of the imports.

The value of exports to China were 13.0 percent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $16.1 billion. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)), which represented a share of 22.9 per cent of total exports, Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev) 6.5 % and Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) 5.4 % of the exports.

Development during January-November 2021

During January-November trade in goods with China has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-November, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $594.5 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 18.2 percent. During January-November the value of imports was $456.8 billion. The export value was $137.7 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 16.3 % and the value of exports by 25.2 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76), worth $62.3 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), worth being $12.2 billion. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-November remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $319.2 billion. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $283.0 billion.
