USA's foreign trade with Singapore, exports to Singapore and imports from Singapore in April 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Trade with Singapore represented in April of 2021, 1.6 per cent share of USA's foreign trade in goods, 2.4% of USA's exports and 1.1% of imports. In April Singapore was USA's 16. largest foreign trade partner. Amounting trade to worth of $5.9 billion was 0.5 per cent bigger than in April of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Singapore was $894 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Singapore decreased by 28.6 per cent compared to in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $2.5 billion in April 2021. Major product categories of imports from Singapore were Sitc098 (edible products and preparations, n.e.s.), representing 12.7 percent of imports, Sitc931 (special transactions and commodities not classified according to kind) 12.7 % and Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542) 12.4 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Singapore were 43.8 percent higher than in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $3.4 billion. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), which represented a share of 12.3 per cent of total exports, Sitc971 (gold,non-monetary) 12.2 % and Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) 11.9 % of the exports.

Development during January-April 2021

During January-April trade in goods with Singapore has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-April, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $21.2 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 4.2 percent. During January-April the value of imports was $9.6 billion. The export value was $11.7 billion. Compared to the corresponding period January - April in 2020, the value of imports during this period decreased by 8.4 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc098 (edible products and preparations, n.e.s.), worth $1.3 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), worth being $1.7 billion. The value of exports during this period increased by 17.5 %. The domestic trade balance between the two countries was in surplus, as it had remained in deficit in January-April of the previous year. The surplus was worth $2.1 billion.
