USA's foreign trade with Netherlands, exports to Netherlands and imports from Netherlands in September 2023


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

Netherlands's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in September 2023 represented a share of 2.2 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 3.7 % and 1.2 % of imports. In September Netherlands was USA's 11. most important foreign trade partner. Amounting trade to worth of $9.3 billion was 3.7 per cent bigger than in September of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Netherlands was $3.2 billion of surplus.

The value of imports from Netherlands was 30.8 per cent higher than in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $3.0 billion. Major product categories of imports from Netherlands were Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), representing 29.6 percent of imports, Sitc931 (special transactions and commodities not classified according to kind) 14.8 % and Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar) 7.2 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Netherlands declined by 5.7 per cent compared to in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $6.3 billion in September 2023. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), which represented a share of 24.7 per cent of total exports, Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542) 7.1 % and Sitc872 (instruments and appliances, n.e.s., for medical, surgical, dental or veterinary purposes) 6.5 % of the exports.

Development during January-September 2023

During January-September, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $88.3 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 10.1 percent. During January-September the value of imports was $27.9 billion. The export value was $60.4 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 6.4 % and the value of exports by 11.9 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), worth $6.9 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), worth being $13.5 billion. The trade balance between USA and Netherlandsin between January and September was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $32.5 billion.
