USA's foreign trade with Indonesia, exports to Indonesia and imports from Indonesia in April 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Indonesia's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in April 2021 represented a share of 0.8 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 0.5% and 1.0% of imports. In April Indonesia was USA's 24. largest foreign trade partner. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. Amounting trade to worth of $3.0 billion was 36.8 per cent bigger than in April of the previous year. In April the trade balance with Indonesia was $1.7 billion in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Indonesia was 39.7 per cent higher than in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $2.4 billion. Major product categories of imports from Indonesia were Sitc851 (footwear), representing 9.8 percent of imports, Sitc422 (fixed vegetable fats and oils, crude, refined or fractionated, other than *soft*) 6.9 % and Sitc821 (furniture and parts thereof; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings) 6.8 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Indonesia were 27.4 percent higher than in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $683 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)), which represented a share of 12.2 per cent of total exports, Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane) 12.0 % and Sitc081 (feeding stuff for animals (not including unmilled cereals)) 7.6 % of the exports.

Development during January-April 2021

During January-April trade in goods with Indonesia has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-April, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $10.9 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 13.0 percent. During January-April the value of imports was $7.8 billion. The export value was $3.1 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 10.0% and the value of exports by 21.6%. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc851 (footwear), worth $668 million. In export the largest value had Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane), worth being $605 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-April remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $4.7 billion. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $4.6 billion.
