USA's foreign trade with Indonesia, exports to Indonesia and imports from Indonesia in Juli 2023


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Indonesia's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in Juli 2023 represented a share of 0.7 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 0.4 % and 0.9 % of imports. In Juli Indonesia was USA's 23. most important foreign trade partner. Improvement from the previous month was 4 places. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. $3.0 billion worth of trade was 8.8 per cent lower than in Juli of the previous year. In Juli the trade balance with Indonesia was $1.6 billion in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Indonesia decreased by 7.3 per cent compared to in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to $2.3 billion in Juli 2023. Major product categories of imports from Indonesia were Sitc851 (footwear), representing 7.9 percent of imports, Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76) 7.1 % and Sitc422 (fixed vegetable fats and oils, crude, refined or fractionated, other than *soft*) 5.9 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Indonesia declined by 13.2 per cent compared to in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to $698 million in Juli 2023. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)), which represented a share of 12.9 per cent of total exports, Sitc081 (feeding stuff for animals (not including unmilled cereals)) 9.6 % and Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) 8.9 % of the exports.

Development during January-Juli 2023

The trade in goods between January and Juli of 2023 was of lesser value than in the corresponding period of the previous year. The value of the trade was $21.6 billion, down 16.9 %. During January-Juli the value of imports was $15.9 billion. The export value was $5.7 billion. Compared to the corresponding period in 2022, the value of imports decreased by 21.1 % and the value of exports by 2.1 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc851 (footwear), worth $1.2 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)), worth being $796 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-Juli remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $10.2 billion. The trade deficit narrowed compared to the corresponding period in 2022. At that time, the deficit was $14.4 billion.
