USA's foreign trade with Indonesia, exports to Indonesia and imports from Indonesia in November 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Indonesia's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in November 2021 represented a share of 0.8 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 0.5 % and 1.0 % of imports. In November Indonesia was USA's 21. most important foreign trade partner. Amounting trade to worth of $3.3 billion was 36.5 per cent bigger than in November of the previous year. In November the trade balance with Indonesia was $1.6 billion in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Indonesia was 43.1 per cent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $2.5 billion. Major product categories of imports from Indonesia were Sitc422 (fixed vegetable fats and oils, crude, refined or fractionated, other than *soft*), representing 10.0 percent of imports, Sitc845 (articles of apparel, of textile fabrics, whether or not knitted or crocheted, n.e.s.) 7.3 % and Sitc851 (footwear) 6.5 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Indonesia were 20.2 percent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $843 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane), which represented a share of 28.6 per cent of total exports, Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)) 10.2 % and Sitc251 (pulp and waste paper) 6.5 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods in early 2021

During January-November, trade in goods with Indonesia has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-November of the previous year. Growth was as high as 31.0 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $33.0 billion. During January-November the value of imports was $24.4 billion. The export value was $8.6 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 32.1 % and the value of exports by 27.7 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc851 (footwear), worth $1.8 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane), worth being $1.9 billion. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-November remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $15.8 billion. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $11.8 billion.
