USA's foreign trade with Turkey, exports to Turkey and imports from Turkey in November 2021

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In November Turkey was USA's 28. most important foreign trade partner. Turkey's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in November 2021 represented a share of 0.7 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 0.9 % and 0.5 % of imports. Amounting trade to worth of $2.7 billion was 60.9 per cent bigger than in November of the previous year. In November the trade balance with Turkey was $16 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Turkey was 48.3 per cent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.4 billion. Major product categories of imports from Turkey were Sitc659 (floor coverings, etc.), representing 6.5 percent of imports, Sitc897 (jewellery, goldsmiths' and silversmiths' wares, and other articles of precious or semiprecious materials, n.e.s.) 6.3 % and Sitc661 (lime, cement, and fabricated construction materials (except glass and clay materials)) 4.9 % of the imports.

Exports to Turkey grew strongly over the previous year's November. The value of exports was $1.4 billion. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc343 (natural gas, whether or not liquefied), which represented a share of 28.1 per cent of total exports, Sitc282 (ferrous waste and scrap; remelting scrap ingots of iron or steel) 10.7 % and Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof) 7.1 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods in early 2021

During January-November, trade in goods with Turkey has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-November of the previous year. Growth was as high as 28.7 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $24.8 billion. During January-November the value of imports was $14.5 billion. The export value was $10.4 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 44.8 % and the value of exports by 11.4 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc659 (floor coverings, etc.), worth $1.1 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), worth being $1.7 billion. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-November remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $4.1 billion. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $684 million.
