USA's foreign trade with Turkey, exports to Turkey and imports from Turkey in June 2022

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In June Turkey was USA's 28. most important foreign trade partner. Turkey's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in June 2022 represented a share of 0.7 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 0.9 % and 0.6 % of imports. Amounting trade to worth of $3.3 billion was 35.1 per cent bigger than in June of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Turkey was $48 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Turkey was 16.6 per cent higher than in June of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.6 billion. Major product categories of imports from Turkey were Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), representing 8.3 percent of imports, Sitc661 (lime, cement, and fabricated construction materials (except glass and clay materials)) 6.0 % and Sitc659 (floor coverings, etc.) 5.7 % of the imports.

Exports to Turkey grew strongly over the previous year's June. The value of exports was $1.7 billion. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), which represented a share of 21.6 per cent of total exports, Sitc282 (ferrous waste and scrap; remelting scrap ingots of iron or steel) 9.9 % and Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane) 9.6 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods in early 2022

During January-June, trade in goods with Turkey has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-June of the previous year. Growth was as high as 42.1 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $17.6 billion. During January-June the value of imports was $9.5 billion. The export value was $8.1 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 26.9 % and the value of exports by 65.1 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth $644 million. In export the largest value had Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), worth being $1.3 billion. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-June remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $1.3 billion. The trade deficit narrowed compared to the corresponding period in 2021. At that time, the deficit was $2.5 billion.
