Finland's foreign trade with Russia, exports to Russia and imports from Russia in Juli 2026

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In Juli 2026 Russia represented 0.8 per cent of Finland's foreign trade in goods, 0.5 % of Finland's exports and 1.1 % of imports. In Juli Russia was Finland's 26. largest foreign trade partner. Rise from the previous month 7 places. Amounting trade to worth of €114 million was 1.2 per cent bigger than in Juli of the previous year. For Finland, the trade balance with Russia was in considerable deficit in Juli. The amount of the month's deficit was €45 million.

The value of imports from Russia decreased by 23.6 per cent compared to Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to €79 million in Juli 2026. The main part of the import value came from 284 (Sitc nickel ores and concentrates; nickel mattes, nickel oxide sinters and other intermediate products of nickel metallurgy) imports, this representing 87.7 percent of total imports.

Exports to Russia grew strongly over the previous year's Juli. The value of exports was €34 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc 283 (copper ores and concentrates; copper mattes; cement copper), which represented a share of 97.5 per cent of total exports, Sitc 598 (miscellaneous chemical products, n.e.s.) 0.8 % and Sitc 098 (edible products and preparations, n.e.s.) 0.6 % of the exports.

Development during January-Juli 2026

During January-Juli 2026, the value of trade in goods between countries was lower than during the corresponding period in the previous year. The value of the trade was €617 million, a decrease of 0.6 %. During January-Juli the value of imports was €470 million. The export value was €146 million. Compared to the corresponding period in 2025, the value of imports during this period increased by 1.9 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc 284 (nickel ores and concentrates; nickel mattes, nickel oxide sinters and other intermediate products of nickel metallurgy), worth €372 million. In export the largest value had Sitc 283 (copper ores and concentrates; copper mattes; cement copper), worth being €128 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 7.6 %. From Finland's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-Juli remained in deficit. The trade deficit was €324 million. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2025. At that time, the deficit was €303 million.
