USA's foreign trade with Tunisia, exports to Tunisia and imports from Tunisia in February 2025


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In February Tunisia was USA's 96. most important foreign trade partner. Improvement from the previous month was 2 places. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. $115 million worth of trade was 4.0 per cent lower than in February of the previous year. In February the trade balance with Tunisia was $67 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Tunisia decreased by 0.2 per cent compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $91 million in February 2025. Major product categories of imports from Tunisia were Sitc421 (fixed vegetable fats and oils, *soft*, crude, refined or fractionated), representing 41.9 percent of imports, Sitc772 (electrical apparatus for switching or protecting electrical circuits or for making connections to or in electrical circuits (e.g., switches, relays, fuses, lightning arresters, voltage limiters, surge suppressors, plugs and sockets, lamp-holders and) 8.8 % and Sitc773 (equipment for distributing electricity, n.e.s.) 6.0 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Tunisia declined by 16.0 per cent compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $24 million in February 2025. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc269 (worn clothing and other worn textile articles; rags), which represented a share of 12.7 per cent of total exports, Sitc571 (polymers of ethylene, in primary forms) 10.2 % and Sitc573 (polymers of vinyl chloride or of other halogenated olefins, in primary forms) 9.3 % of the exports.

A sharp drop in trade in goods in early 2025

During January-February, trade in goods between the two countries declined sharply (-20.4 %) over the same period last year. The value of the trade was $221 million. During January-February the value of imports was $162 million. The export value was $60 million. Compared to the corresponding period in 2024, the value of both imports and exports decreased significantly. The decline in imports was 18.7 % and in the value of exports 24.5 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc421 (fixed vegetable fats and oils, *soft*, crude, refined or fractionated), worth $60 million. In export the largest value had Sitc571 (polymers of ethylene, in primary forms), worth being $5.3 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-February remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $102 million. The trade deficit narrowed compared to the corresponding period in 2024. At that time, the deficit was $120 million.
