USA's foreign trade with Tunisia, exports to Tunisia and imports from Tunisia in April 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In April Tunisia was USA's 92. largest foreign trade partner. Decrease from the previous month was 2 places. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. Amounting trade to worth of $93 million was 55.2 per cent bigger than in April of the previous year. In April the trade balance with Tunisia was $64 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Tunisia was 87.3 per cent higher than in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $79 million. Major product categories of imports from Tunisia were Sitc421 (fixed vegetable fats and oils, *soft*, crude, refined or fractionated), representing 34.4 percent of imports, Sitc562 (fertilizers (other than those of group 272)) 23.0 % and Sitc772 (electrical apparatus for switching or protecting electrical circuits or for making connections to or in electrical circuits (e.g., switches, relays, fuses, lightning arresters, voltage limiters, surge suppressors, plugs and sockets, lamp-holders and) 5.2 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Tunisia declined by 20.2 per cent compared to in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $14 million in April 2021. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc573 (polymers of vinyl chloride or of other halogenated olefins, in primary forms), which represented a share of 18.3 per cent of total exports, Sitc891 (arms and ammunition) 9.7 % and Sitc571 (polymers of ethylene, in primary forms) 9.6 % of the exports.

Development during January-April 2021

During January-April, trade in goods with Tunisia has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-April of the previous year. Growth was as high as 35.7067451535606 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $392 million. During January-April the value of imports was $236 million. The export value was $156 million. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 29.3% and the value of exports by 46.7%. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc421 (fixed vegetable fats and oils, *soft*, crude, refined or fractionated), worth $96 million. In export the largest value had Sitc044 (maize (not including sweet corn), unmilled), worth being $34 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-April remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $79 million. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $76 million.
