USA's foreign trade with Australia, exports to Australia and imports from Australia in April 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Australia's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in April 2021 represented a share of 0.9 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 1.6% and 0.4% of imports. In April Australia was USA's 22. largest foreign trade partner. $3.2 billion worth of trade was 13.5 per cent lower than in April of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Australia was $1.2 billion of surplus.

The value of imports from Australia decreased strongly, by 53.4 per cent compared to in April of the previous year. The import amounted to $1.0 billion in April 2021. Major product categories of imports from Australia were Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), representing 10.8 percent of imports, Sitc011 (meat of bovine animals, fresh, chilled or frozen) 8.7 % and Sitc931 (special transactions and commodities not classified according to kind) 7.8 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Australia were 40.3 percent higher than in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $2.2 billion. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), which represented a share of 6.3 per cent of total exports, Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars) 6.1 % and Sitc971 (gold,non-monetary) 5.2 % of the exports.

Development during January-April 2021

During January-April 2021, the value of trade in goods between countries was lower than the corresponding period in the previous year. The value of the trade was $12.1 billion, a decrease of 3.1 %. During January-April the value of imports was $3.9 billion. The export value was $8.3 billion. Compared to the corresponding period January - April in 2020, the value of imports during this period decreased by 21.6 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc897 (jewellery, goldsmiths' and silversmiths' wares, and other articles of precious or semiprecious materials, n.e.s.), worth $533 million. In export the largest value had Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), worth being $431 million. The value of exports during this period increased by 9.0 %. The trade balance between USA and Australian between January and April was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $4.4 billion.
