USA's foreign trade with Australia, exports to Australia and imports from Australia in September 2022


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In September Australia was USA's 21. most important foreign trade partner. Improvement from the previous month was 2 places. Australia's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in September 2022 represented a share of 1.0 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 1.7 % and 0.5 % of imports. Amounting trade to worth of $4.4 billion was 41.3 per cent bigger than in September of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Australia was $1.7 billion of surplus.

The value of imports from Australia was 38.2 per cent higher than in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.4 billion. Major product categories of imports from Australia were Sitc961 (coin (not gold coin or legal)), representing 13.5 percent of imports, Sitc011 (meat of bovine animals, fresh, chilled or frozen) 8.3 % and Sitc012 (other meat and edible meat offal, fresh, chilled or frozen (except meat and meat offal unfit or unsuitable for human consumption)) 8.0 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Australia were 42.7 percent higher than in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $3.0 billion. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc891 (arms and ammunition), which represented a share of 5.9 per cent of total exports, Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof) 5.6 % and Sitc782 (motor vehicles for the transport of goods and special-purpose motor vehicles) 5.5 % of the exports.

Development during January-September 2022

During January-September, trade in goods with Australia has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-September, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $34.3 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 19.9 percent. During January-September the value of imports was $11.9 billion. The export value was $22.4 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 31.6 % and the value of exports by 14.5 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc961 (coin (not gold coin or legal)), worth $1.1 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), worth being $981 million. The trade balance between USA and Australian between January and September was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $10.6 billion.
