USA's foreign trade with Malaysia, exports to Malaysia and imports from Malaysia in Juli 2021

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In Juli Malaysia was USA's 16. most important foreign trade partner. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. In Juli 2021 Malaysia represented 1.6 per cent of USA's foreign trade in goods, 0.9 % of USA's exports and 2.0 % of imports. Amounting trade to worth of $6.2 billion was 40.8 per cent bigger than in Juli of the previous year. In Juli the trade balance with Malaysia was $3.5 billion in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Malaysia was 42.6 per cent higher than in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to $4.8 billion. Major product categories of imports from Malaysia were Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), representing 36.8 percent of imports, Sitc848 (articles of apparel and clothing accessories of other than textile fabrics; headgear of all materials) 11.7 % and Sitc751 (office machines) 7.9 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Malaysia were 34.6 percent higher than in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.3 billion. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), which represented a share of 31.6 per cent of total exports, Sitc288 (non-ferrous base metal waste and scrap, n.e.s.) 8.7 % and Sitc772 (electrical apparatus for switching or protecting electrical circuits or for making connections to or in electrical circuits (e.g., switches, relays, fuses, lightning arresters, voltage limiters, surge suppressors, plugs and sockets, lamp-holders and) 3.9 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods in early 2021

During January-Juli, trade in goods with Malaysia has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-Juli of the previous year. Growth was as high as 35.250151915984 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $41.1 billion. During January-Juli the value of imports was $32.5 billion. The export value was $8.7 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 39.3% and the value of exports by 22.1%. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), worth $13.1 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), worth being $2.3 billion. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-Juli remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $23.8 billion. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $16.2 billion.
