USA's foreign trade with Saudi Arabia, exports to Saudi Arabia and imports from Saudi Arabia in February 2025


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In February Saudi Arabia was USA's 34. most important foreign trade partner. $1.9 billion worth of trade was 5.2 per cent lower than in February of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Saudi Arabia was $84 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Saudi Arabia decreased by 12.0 per cent compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $927 million in February 2025. More than half of the value of imports was in Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) representing a share of 68.1 per cent. The second major category of imports was Sitc562 (fertilizers (other than those of group 272)), corresponding to the share of 12.1 per cent of imports.

The value of exports to Saudi Arabia were 2.1 percent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.0 billion. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), which represented a share of 8.9 per cent of total exports, Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof) 6.8 % and Sitc784 (parts and accessories of the motor vehicles of groups 722, 781, 782 and 783) 4.6 % of the exports.

Development during January-February 2025

During January-February 2025, the value of trade in goods between countries was lower than during the corresponding period in the previous year. The value of the trade was $3.9 billion, a decrease of 4.4 %. During January-February the value of imports was $2.0 billion. The export value was $1.9 billion. Compared to the corresponding period in 2024, the value of imports decreased by 3.3 % and the value of exports by 5.6 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), worth $1.4 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), worth being $174 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-February remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $152 million. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2024. At that time, the deficit was $109 million.
