USA's foreign trade with Jordan, exports to Jordan and imports from Jordan in September 2022


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In September Jordan was USA's 66. most important foreign trade partner. Improvement from the previous month was 5 places. Amounting trade to worth of $412 million was 36.9 per cent bigger than in September of the previous year. In September the trade balance with Jordan was $204 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Jordan was 38.9 per cent higher than in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $308 million. Major product categories of imports from Jordan were Sitc845 (articles of apparel, of textile fabrics, whether or not knitted or crocheted, n.e.s.), representing 28.9 percent of imports, Sitc897 (jewellery, goldsmiths' and silversmiths' wares, and other articles of precious or semiprecious materials, n.e.s.) 18.9 % and Sitc844 (women's or girls' coats, capes, jackets, suits, trousers, shorts, shirts, dresses and skirts, underwear, nightwear and similar articles of textile fabrics, knitted or crocheted (other than those of subgroup 845.2)) 16.3 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Jordan were 31.4 percent higher than in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $104 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), which represented a share of 29.0 per cent of total exports, Sitc891 (arms and ammunition) 10.7 % and Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane) 10.4 % of the exports.

Development during January-September 2022

During January-September trade in goods with Jordan has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-September, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $3.3 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 15.2 percent. During January-September the value of imports was $2.3 billion. The export value was $959 million. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 18.8 % and the value of exports by 7.3 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc897 (jewellery, goldsmiths' and silversmiths' wares, and other articles of precious or semiprecious materials, n.e.s.), worth $502 million. In export the largest value had Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), worth being $260 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-September remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $1.3 billion. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2021. At that time, the deficit was $1.0 billion.
