USA's foreign trade with Portugal, exports to Portugal and imports from Portugal in Juli 2021

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In Juli Portugal was USA's 58. most important foreign trade partner. Amounting trade to worth of $598 million was 49.5 per cent bigger than in Juli of the previous year. In Juli the trade balance with Portugal was $221 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Portugal was 34.5 per cent higher than in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to $410 million. Major product categories of imports from Portugal were Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), representing 15.0 percent of imports, Sitc625 (rubber tyres, interchangeable tyre treads, tyre flaps and inner tubes for wheels of all kinds) 7.9 % and Sitc633 (cork manufactures) 6.5 % of the imports.

Exports to Portugal grew strongly over the previous year's Juli. The value of exports was $189 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), which represented a share of 52.5 per cent of total exports, Sitc343 (natural gas, whether or not liquefied) 12.9 % and Sitc714 (engines and motors, non-electric (other than those of groups 712, 713 and 718); parts, n.e.s., of these engines and motors) 4.5 % of the exports.

During January-Juli, trade in goods with Portugal has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-Juli of the previous year. Growth was as high as 35.0181321744653 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $4.0 billion. During January-Juli the value of imports was $2.8 billion. The export value was $1.1 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 33.0% and the value of exports by 40.4%. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth $497 million. In export the largest value had Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), worth being $229 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-Juli remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $1.7 billion. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $1.3 billion.
