USA's foreign trade with Belgium, exports to Belgium and imports from Belgium in April 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Belgium's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in April 2021 represented a share of 1.2 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 1.8% and 0.8% of imports. In April Belgium was USA's 20. largest foreign trade partner. Amounting trade to worth of $4.4 billion was 30.8 per cent bigger than in April of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Belgium was $781 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Belgium was 18.6 per cent higher than in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.8 billion. Major product categories of imports from Belgium were Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), representing 22.3 percent of imports, Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar) 9.8 % and Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)) 9.4 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Belgium were 40.9 percent higher than in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $2.6 billion. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), which represented a share of 11.8 per cent of total exports, Sitc872 (instruments and appliances, n.e.s., for medical, surgical, dental or veterinary purposes) 8.0 % and Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542) 5.8 % of the exports.

Development during January-April 2021

During January-April trade in goods with Belgium has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-April, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $17.6 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 5.1 percent. During January-April the value of imports was $7.2 billion. The export value was $10.4 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 6.9% and the value of exports by 3.9%. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), worth $2.0 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), worth being $1.5 billion. The trade balance between USA and Belgiumin between January and April was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $3.2 billion.
