USA's foreign trade with Belgium, exports to Belgium and imports from Belgium in March 2022


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In March Belgium was USA's 20. most important foreign trade partner. Belgium's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in March 2022 represented a share of 1.2 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 2.0 % and 0.8 % of imports. Amounting trade to worth of $5.9 billion was 35.1 per cent bigger than in March of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Belgium was $1.3 billion of surplus.

The value of imports from Belgium was 24.2 per cent higher than in March of the previous year, thus amounting to $2.3 billion. Major product categories of imports from Belgium were Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), representing 24.2 percent of imports, Sitc667 (pearls and precious or semiprecious stones, unworked or worked) 11.7 % and Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)) 8.0 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Belgium were 43.1 percent higher than in March of the previous year, thus amounting to $3.6 billion. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc667 (pearls and precious or semiprecious stones, unworked or worked), which represented a share of 8.3 per cent of total exports, Sitc343 (natural gas, whether or not liquefied) 5.9 % and Sitc872 (instruments and appliances, n.e.s., for medical, surgical, dental or veterinary purposes) 5.5 % of the exports.

Development during January-March 2022

During January-March trade in goods with Belgium has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-March, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $14.9 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 13.0 percent. During January-March the value of imports was $5.8 billion. The export value was $9.1 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 7.7 % and the value of exports by 16.6 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), worth $1.4 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc667 (pearls and precious or semiprecious stones, unworked or worked), worth being $714 million. The trade balance between USA and Belgiumin between January and March was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $3.3 billion.
