USA's foreign trade with Brazil, exports to Brazil and imports from Brazil in April 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Trade with Brazil represented in April of 2021, 1.5 per cent share of USA's foreign trade in goods, 2.4% of USA's exports and 1.0% of imports. In April Brazil was USA's 18. largest foreign trade partner. Amounting trade to worth of $5.8 billion was 44.7 per cent bigger than in April of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Brazil was $1.1 billion of surplus.

The value of imports from Brazil was 39.7 per cent higher than in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $2.3 billion. Major product categories of imports from Brazil were Sitc672 (ingots and other primary forms, of iron or steel; semi-finished products of iron or steel), representing 10.1 percent of imports, Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar) 7.2 % and Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof) 6.0 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Brazil were 48.4 percent higher than in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $3.4 billion. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), which represented a share of 15.2 per cent of total exports, Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar) 9.9 % and Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) 7.7 % of the exports.

Development during January-April 2021

During January-April trade in goods with Brazil has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-April, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $20.7 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 4.2 percent. During January-April the value of imports was $8.0 billion. The export value was $12.7 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 7.1% and the value of exports by 2.5%. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc672 (ingots and other primary forms, of iron or steel; semi-finished products of iron or steel), worth $657 million. In export the largest value had Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth being $1.8 billion. The trade balance between USA and Brazilin between January and April was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $4.8 billion.
