USA's foreign trade with Brazil, exports to Brazil and imports from Brazil in Juli 2023


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In Juli Brazil was USA's 15. most important foreign trade partner. Trade with Brazil represented in Juli of 2023, 1.7 per cent share of USA's foreign trade in goods, 2.2 % of USA's exports and 1.3 % of imports. Trade in goods between the countries of the month was considerably lower than in in Juli of the previous year. The value of the trade was $6.9 billion and the drop was 25.7 %. During the month, the balance of trade with Brazil was $261 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Brazil decreased by 14.0 per cent compared to in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to $3.3 billion in Juli 2023. Major product categories of imports from Brazil were Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), representing 12.9 percent of imports, Sitc931 (special transactions and commodities not classified according to kind) 7.2 % and Sitc672 (ingots and other primary forms, of iron or steel; semi-finished products of iron or steel) 6.9 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Brazil amounted to more than a third lower relative to the previous year's Juli, thus amounting to $3.6 billion in Juli 2023. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), which represented a share of 16.8 per cent of total exports, Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar) 6.3 % and Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) 3.3 % of the exports.

Development during January-Juli 2023

The trade in goods between January and Juli of 2023 was of lesser value than in the corresponding period of the previous year. The value of the trade was $47.8 billion, down 11.2 %. During January-Juli the value of imports was $21.5 billion. The export value was $26.3 billion. Compared to the corresponding period in 2022, the value of imports decreased by 1.3 % and the value of exports by 17.9 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), worth $2.6 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), worth being $3.9 billion. The trade balance between USA and Brazilin between January and Juli was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $4.8 billion.
