USA's foreign trade with Brazil, exports to Brazil and imports from Brazil in September 2022


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Trade with Brazil represented in September of 2022, 1.8 per cent share of USA's foreign trade in goods, 2.7 % of USA's exports and 1.2 % of imports. In September Brazil was USA's 14. most important foreign trade partner. Weakening from the previous month was 2 places. Amounting trade to worth of $8.2 billion was 4.7 per cent bigger than in September of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Brazil was $1.4 billion of surplus.

The value of imports from Brazil was 3.9 per cent higher than in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $3.4 billion. Major product categories of imports from Brazil were Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), representing 15.7 percent of imports, Sitc671 (pig-iron, spiegeleisen, sponge iron, iron or steel granules and powders and ferro-alloys) 6.4 % and Sitc251 (pulp and waste paper) 6.4 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Brazil were 5.2 percent higher than in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $4.8 billion. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), which represented a share of 18.6 per cent of total exports, Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof) 12.7 % and Sitc562 (fertilizers (other than those of group 272)) 4.6 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods in early 2022

During January-September, trade in goods with Brazil has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-September of the previous year. Growth was as high as 24.3 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $70.2 billion. During January-September the value of imports was $28.8 billion. The export value was $41.4 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 29.0 % and the value of exports by 21.3 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), worth $4.0 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth being $8.9 billion. The trade balance between USA and Brazilin between January and September was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $12.6 billion.
