USA's foreign trade with Chile, exports to Chile and imports from Chile in April 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Chile's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in April 2021 represented a share of 0.7 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 1.0% and 0.6% of imports. In April Chile was USA's 25. largest foreign trade partner. Amounting trade to worth of $2.7 billion was 58.4 per cent bigger than in April of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Chile was $70 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Chile was 50.7 per cent higher than in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.3 billion. Major product categories of imports from Chile were Sitc682 (copper), representing 41.0 percent of imports, Sitc034 (fish, fresh (live or dead), chilled or frozen) 14.7 % and Sitc057 (fruit and nuts (not including oil nuts), fresh or dried) 13.0 % of the imports.

Exports to Chile grew strongly over the previous year's April. The value of exports was $1.4 billion. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), which represented a share of 25.4 per cent of total exports, Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane) 8.5 % and Sitc782 (motor vehicles for the transport of goods and special-purpose motor vehicles) 4.8 % of the exports.

Development during January-April 2021

During January-April, trade in goods with Chile has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-April, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $10.2 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 19.3 percent. During January-April the value of imports was $5.0 billion. The export value was $5.2 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 29.1% and the value of exports by 11.1%. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc682 (copper), worth $1.7 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth being $928 million. The trade balance between USA and Chilen between January and April was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $187 million.
