USA's foreign trade with Chile, exports to Chile and imports from Chile in November 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Trade with Chile represented in November of 2021, 0.6 per cent share of USA's foreign trade in goods, 1.0 % of USA's exports and 0.4 % of imports. In November Chile was USA's 29. most important foreign trade partner. Weakening from the previous month was 3 places. Amounting trade to worth of $2.6 billion was 48.7 per cent bigger than in November of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Chile was $512 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Chile was 38.3 per cent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.1 billion. Major product categories of imports from Chile were Sitc682 (copper), representing 26.5 percent of imports, Sitc034 (fish, fresh (live or dead), chilled or frozen) 20.5 % and Sitc057 (fruit and nuts (not including oil nuts), fresh or dried) 4.9 % of the imports.

Exports to Chile grew strongly over the previous year's November. The value of exports was $1.6 billion. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), which represented a share of 31.8 per cent of total exports, Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane) 4.1 % and Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542) 3.8 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods in early 2021

During January-November, trade in goods with Chile has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-November of the previous year. Growth was as high as 44.3 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $29.6 billion. During January-November the value of imports was $13.8 billion. The export value was $15.8 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 49.5 % and the value of exports by 40.1 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc682 (copper), worth $5.2 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth being $3.4 billion. The trade balance between USA and Chilen between January and November was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $2.0 billion.
