USA's foreign trade with Peru, exports to Peru and imports from Peru in Juli 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In Juli Peru was USA's 40. most important foreign trade partner. Amounting trade to worth of $1.2 billion was 20.2 per cent bigger than in Juli of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Peru was $277 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Peru was 15.9 per cent higher than in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to $481 million. Major product categories of imports from Peru were Sitc057 (fruit and nuts (not including oil nuts), fresh or dried), representing 19.8 percent of imports, Sitc054 (vegetables, fresh, chilled, frozen or simply preserved (including dried leguminous vegetables); roots, tubers and other edible vegetable products, n.e.s., fresh or dried) 9.0 % and Sitc845 (articles of apparel, of textile fabrics, whether or not knitted or crocheted, n.e.s.) 8.7 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Peru were 23.0 percent higher than in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to $759 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), which represented a share of 28.9 per cent of total exports, Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542) 6.1 % and Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) 4.7 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods in early 2021

During January-Juli, trade in goods with Peru has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-Juli of the previous year. Growth was as high as 24.7041739999999 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $8.7 billion. During January-Juli the value of imports was $3.2 billion. The export value was $5.5 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 14.8% and the value of exports by 31.4%. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc057 (fruit and nuts (not including oil nuts), fresh or dried), worth $709 million. In export the largest value had Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth being $1.4 billion. The trade balance between USA and Perun between January and Juli was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $2.3 billion.
