USA's foreign trade with Peru, exports to Peru and imports from Peru in September 2023


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In September Peru was USA's 35. most important foreign trade partner. Improvement from the previous month was 2 places. $1.8 billion worth of trade was 8.3 per cent lower than in September of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Peru was $466 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Peru decreased by 2.7 per cent compared to in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $666 million in September 2023. Major product categories of imports from Peru were Sitc057 (fruit and nuts (not including oil nuts), fresh or dried), representing 18.9 percent of imports, Sitc682 (copper) 12.7 % and Sitc287 (ores and concentrates of base metals, n.e.s.) 7.2 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Peru declined by 11.3 per cent compared to in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.1 billion in September 2023.

Development during January-September 2023

The trade in goods between January and September of 2023 was of lesser value than in the corresponding period of the previous year. The value of the trade was $15.2 billion, down 8.5 %. During January-September the value of imports was $6.2 billion. The export value was $9.0 billion. Compared to the corresponding period in 2022, the value of imports during this period increased by 1.1 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc057 (fruit and nuts (not including oil nuts), fresh or dried), worth $1.3 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth being $3.3 billion. The value of exports during this period decreased by 14.1 %. The trade balance between USA and Perun between January and September was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $2.8 billion.
