Finland's foreign trade with Norway, exports to Norway and imports from Norway in Juli 2026

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In Juli Norway was Finland's sixth largest foreign trade partner. Trade with Norway represented in Juli of 2026 5.0 per cent share of Finland's foreign trade in goods, 3.6 % of Finland's exports and 6.2 % of imports. Amounting trade to worth of €678 million was 7.6 per cent bigger than in Juli of the previous year. For Finland, the trade balance with Norway was in considerable deficit in Juli. The amount of the month's deficit was €215 million.

The value of imports from Norway decreased by 4.9 per cent compared to Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to €447 million in Juli 2026. More than half of the value of imports was in Sitc 333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) representing a share of 75.1 per cent. The second major category of imports was Sitc 034 (fish, fresh (live or dead), chilled or frozen), corresponding to the share of 7.9 per cent of imports.

The value of exports to Norway were 44.0 percent higher than in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to €232 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc 284 (nickel ores and concentrates; nickel mattes, nickel oxide sinters and other intermediate products of nickel metallurgy), which represented a share of 26.0 per cent of total exports, Sitc 793 (ships, boats (including hovercraft) and floating structures) 14.0 % and Sitc 771 (electric power machinery (other than rotating electric plant of group 716) and parts thereof) 5.3 % of the exports.

Development during January-Juli 2026

During January-Juli, trade in goods with Norway has grown faster than Finnish trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-Juli, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to €5.3 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 15.2 percent. During January-Juli the value of imports was €3.7 billion. The export value was €1.6 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 15.2 % and the value of exports by 15.1 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc 333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), worth €2.9 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc 284 (nickel ores and concentrates; nickel mattes, nickel oxide sinters and other intermediate products of nickel metallurgy), worth being €272 million. From Finland's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-Juli remained in deficit. The trade deficit was €2.2 billion. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2025. At that time, the deficit was €1.9 billion.
