Finland's foreign trade with Denmark, exports to Denmark and imports from Denmark in June 2026

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In June Denmark was Finland's 16. largest foreign trade partner. Trade with Denmark represented in June of 2026 1.3 per cent share of Finland's foreign trade in goods, 1.2 % of Finland's exports and 1.4 % of imports. Trade in goods between the countries of the month was considerably lower than in in June of the previous year. The value of the trade was €213 million and the drop was 27.7 %. During the month, the balance of trade with Denmark was €9.5 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Denmark decreased strongly, by 46.6 per cent compared to June of the previous year. The import amounted to €102 million in June 2026. Major product categories of imports from Denmark were Sitc 024 (cheese and curd), representing 6.9 per cent of imports, Sitc 542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)) 6.0 % and Sitc 691 (structures and parts of structures, n.e.s., of iron, steel or aluminium) 5.0 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Denmark were 6.9 percent higher than in June of the previous year, thus amounting to €111 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc 675 (flat-rolled products of alloy steel), which represented a share of 5.1 per cent of total exports, Sitc 771 (electric power machinery (other than rotating electric plant of group 716) and parts thereof) 4.8 % and Sitc 248 (wood, simply worked, and railway sleepers of wood) 4.8 % of the exports.

Development during January-June 2026

The trade in goods between January and June of 2026 was of lesser value than in the corresponding period of the previous year. The value of the trade was €1.5 billion, down 6.5 %. During January-June the value of imports was €895 million. The export value was €647 million. Compared to the corresponding period January - June in 2025, the value of imports during this period decreased by 12.1 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc 333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), worth €320 million. In export the largest value had Sitc 248 (wood, simply worked, and railway sleepers of wood), worth being €31 million. The value of exports during this period increased by 2.6 %. From Finland's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-June remained in deficit. The trade deficit was €248 million. The trade deficit narrowed compared to the corresponding period in 2025. At that time, the deficit was €388 million.
