Finland's foreign trade with Australia, exports to Australia and imports from Australia in Juli 2026

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In Juli Australia was Finland's 34. largest foreign trade partner. Weakening from the previous month was 8 places. Most of the the value of trade consists of Finland's exports to Australia. Australia's share of Finland's foreign trade in goods in Juli 2026 represented a share of 0.6 per cent. Share of Finland's that month's exports was 1.0 % and 0.2 % of imports. Trade in goods between the countries of the month was considerably lower than in in Juli of the previous year. The value of the trade was €83 million and the drop was 10.2 %. The trade balance with Australia during the review month was very favorable for Finland. The surplus was €51 million.

The value of imports from Australia decreased strongly, by 49.9 per cent compared to Juli of the previous year. The import amounted to €16 million in Juli 2026. Major product categories of imports from Australia were Sitc 321 (coal, whether or not pulverized, but not agglomerated), representing 45.5 per cent of imports, Sitc 683 (nickel) 6.8 % and Sitc 872 (instruments and appliances, n.e.s., for medical, surgical, dental or veterinary purposes) 5.7 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Australia were 10.4 percent higher than in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to €67 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc 723 (civil engineering and contractors' plant and equipment; parts thereof), which represented a share of 30.6 per cent of total exports, Sitc 542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)) 6.2 % and Sitc 874 (measuring, checking, analysing and controlling instruments and apparatus, n.e.s.) 5.0 % of the exports.

Development during January-Juli 2026

The trade in goods between January and Juli of 2026 was of lesser value than in the corresponding period of the previous year. The value of the trade was €805 million, down 8.4 %. During January-Juli the value of imports was €245 million. The export value was €560 million. Compared to the corresponding period in 2025, the value of imports during this period increased by 23.6 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc 283 (copper ores and concentrates; copper mattes; cement copper), worth €167 million. In export the largest value had Sitc 723 (civil engineering and contractors' plant and equipment; parts thereof), worth being €186 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 17.7 %. The trade balance between Finland and Australia between January and Juli was in surplus for Finland. The timing surplus was €315 million.
