USA's foreign trade with Kenya, exports to Kenya and imports from Kenya in November 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In November Kenya was USA's 100. most important foreign trade partner. Weakening from the previous month was 11 places. Amounting trade to worth of $100 million was 30.2 per cent bigger than in November of the previous year. In November the trade balance with Kenya was $32 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Kenya was 26.3 per cent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $66 million. Major product categories of imports from Kenya were Sitc841 (men's or boys' coats, capes, jackets, suits, blazers, trousers, shorts, shirts, underwear, nightwear and similar articles of textile fabrics, not knitted or crocheted (other than those of subgroup 845.2)), representing 30.2 percent of imports, Sitc845 (articles of apparel, of textile fabrics, whether or not knitted or crocheted, n.e.s.) 14.5 % and Sitc842 (women's or girls' coats, capes, jackets, suits, trousers, shorts, shirts, dresses and skirts, underwear, nightwear and similar articles of textile fabrics, not knitted or crocheted (other than those of subgroup 845.2)) 11.4 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Kenya were 38.5 percent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $34 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), which represented a share of 34.5 per cent of total exports, Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof) 13.2 % and Sitc931 (special transactions and commodities not classified according to kind) 7.2 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods in early 2021

During January-November, trade in goods with Kenya has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-November of the previous year. Growth was as high as 28.8 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $1.1 billion. During January-November the value of imports was $634 million. The export value was $474 million. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 19.8 % and the value of exports by 43.1 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc841 (men's or boys' coats, capes, jackets, suits, blazers, trousers, shorts, shirts, underwear, nightwear and similar articles of textile fabrics, not knitted or crocheted (other than those of subgroup 845.2)), worth $154 million. In export the largest value had Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane), worth being $85 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-November remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $160 million. The trade deficit narrowed compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $197 million.
