USA's foreign trade with Egypt, exports to Egypt and imports from Egypt in Juli 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In Juli Egypt was USA's 60. most important foreign trade partner. Amounting trade to worth of $570 million was 2.2 per cent bigger than in Juli of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Egypt was $58 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Egypt was 14.9 per cent higher than in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to $256 million. Major product categories of imports from Egypt were Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), representing 15.2 percent of imports, Sitc845 (articles of apparel, of textile fabrics, whether or not knitted or crocheted, n.e.s.) 13.5 % and Sitc841 (men's or boys' coats, capes, jackets, suits, blazers, trousers, shorts, shirts, underwear, nightwear and similar articles of textile fabrics, not knitted or crocheted (other than those of subgroup 845.2)) 10.0 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Egypt declined by 6.1 per cent compared to in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to $314 million in Juli 2021. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), which represented a share of 12.4 per cent of total exports, Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane) 9.4 % and Sitc321 (coal, whether or not pulverized, but not agglomerated) 8.6 % of the exports.

Development during January-Juli 2021

During January-Juli trade in goods with Egypt has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-Juli, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $4.8 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 15.2 percent. During January-Juli the value of imports was $1.8 billion. The export value was $3.0 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 42.7% and the value of exports by 3.4%. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth $440 million. In export the largest value had Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)), worth being $703 million. The trade balance between USA and Egyptin between January and Juli was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $1.2 billion.
