USA's foreign trade with Egypt, exports to Egypt and imports from Egypt in April 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In April Egypt was USA's 50. largest foreign trade partner. Amounting trade to worth of $709 million was 45.3 per cent bigger than in April of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Egypt was $202 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Egypt was 116.9 per cent higher than in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $254 million. Major product categories of imports from Egypt were Sitc845 (articles of apparel, of textile fabrics, whether or not knitted or crocheted, n.e.s.), representing 15.4 percent of imports, Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar) 13.7 % and Sitc562 (fertilizers (other than those of group 272)) 13.3 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Egypt were 22.7 percent higher than in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $455 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)), which represented a share of 20.2 per cent of total exports, Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof) 11.9 % and Sitc282 (ferrous waste and scrap; remelting scrap ingots of iron or steel) 10.2 % of the exports.

Development during January-April 2021

During January-April, trade in goods with Egypt has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-April of the previous year. Growth was as high as 22.5710817172247 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $2.9 billion. During January-April the value of imports was $944 million. The export value was $2.0 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 27.2% and the value of exports by 20.5%. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth $235 million. In export the largest value had Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)), worth being $673 million. The trade balance between USA and Egyptin between January and April was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $1.1 billion.
