USA's foreign trade with New Zealand, exports to New Zealand and imports from New Zealand in September 2022


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In September New Zealand was USA's 50. most important foreign trade partner. Improvement from the previous month was 7 places. Amounting trade to worth of $840 million was 9.6 per cent bigger than in September of the previous year. In September the trade balance with New Zealand was $31 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from New Zealand decreased by 4.3 per cent compared to in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $436 million in September 2022. Major product categories of imports from New Zealand were Sitc112 (alcoholic beverages), representing 11.0 percent of imports, Sitc011 (meat of bovine animals, fresh, chilled or frozen) 10.0 % and Sitc012 (other meat and edible meat offal, fresh, chilled or frozen (except meat and meat offal unfit or unsuitable for human consumption)) 7.0 % of the imports.

The value of exports to New Zealand were 30.0 percent higher than in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $405 million.

Development during January-September 2022

During January-September trade in goods with New Zealand has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-September, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $7.1 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 10.8 percent. During January-September the value of imports was $4.1 billion. The export value was $3.0 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 12.2 % and the value of exports by 8.9 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc011 (meat of bovine animals, fresh, chilled or frozen), worth $727 million. In export the largest value had Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), worth being $539 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-September remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $1.1 billion. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2021. At that time, the deficit was $914 million.
