USA's foreign trade with Kazakhstan, exports to Kazakhstan and imports from Kazakhstan in September 2023


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In September Kazakhstan was USA's 75. most important foreign trade partner. Improvement from the previous month was 13 places. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. Amounting trade to worth of $284 million was 107.5 per cent bigger than in September of the previous year. In September the trade balance with Kazakhstan was $147 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Kazakhstan was 218.6 per cent higher than in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $216 million. More than half of the value of imports was in Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) representing a share of 71.6 per cent. The second major category of imports was Sitc681 (silver, platinum and other metals of the platinum group), corresponding to the share of 13.6 per cent of imports.

The value of exports to Kazakhstan declined by 1.2 per cent compared to in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $68 million in September 2023. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc747 (taps, cocks, valves and similar appliances for pipes, boiler shells, tanks, vats or the like, including pressure-reducing valves and thermostatically controlled valves), which represented a share of 6.8 per cent of total exports, Sitc716 (rotating electric plant and parts thereof, n.e.s.) 6.5 % and Sitc597 (prepared additives for mineral oils and the like; prepared liquids for hydraulic transmission; anti-freezing preparations and prepared de-icing fluids; lubricating preparations) 6.4 % of the exports.

Development during January-September 2023

During January-September, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $2.7 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 0.7 percent. During January-September the value of imports was $1.8 billion. The export value was $923 million. Compared to the corresponding period January - September in 2022, the value of imports during this period decreased by 12.2 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), worth $823 million. In export the largest value had Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), worth being $157 million. The value of exports during this period increased by 42.0 %. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-September remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $903 million. The trade deficit narrowed compared to the corresponding period in 2022. At that time, the deficit was $1.4 billion.
