USA's foreign trade with Ukraine, exports to Ukraine and imports from Ukraine in February 2025


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In February Ukraine was USA's 76. most important foreign trade partner. Amounting trade to worth of $287 million was 68.1 per cent bigger than in February of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Ukraine was $86 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Ukraine was 54.8 per cent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $101 million. Major product categories of imports from Ukraine were Sitc671 (pig-iron, spiegeleisen, sponge iron, iron or steel granules and powders and ferro-alloys), representing 22.8 percent of imports, Sitc679 (tubes, pipes and hollow profiles, and tube or pipe fittings, of iron or steel) 15.9 % and Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)) 14.2 % of the imports.

Exports to Ukraine grew strongly over the previous year's February. The value of exports was $186 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc716 (rotating electric plant and parts thereof, n.e.s.), which represented a share of 20.7 per cent of total exports, Sitc891 (arms and ammunition) 10.6 % and Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars) 10.3 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods in early 2025

During January-February, trade in goods with Ukraine has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-February of the previous year. Growth was as high as 45.8 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $618 million. During January-February the value of imports was $265 million. The export value was $353 million. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 34.0 % and the value of exports by 56.1 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc671 (pig-iron, spiegeleisen, sponge iron, iron or steel granules and powders and ferro-alloys), worth $103 million. In export the largest value had Sitc716 (rotating electric plant and parts thereof, n.e.s.), worth being $59 million. The trade balance between USA and Ukrainen between January and February was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $88 million.
