USA's foreign trade with Ireland, exports to Ireland and imports from Ireland in November 2021

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In November Ireland was USA's 11. most important foreign trade partner. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. Trade with Ireland represented in November of 2021, 2.2 per cent share of USA's foreign trade in goods, 1.0 % of USA's exports and 2.9 % of imports. Amounting trade to worth of $9.1 billion was 45.0 per cent bigger than in November of the previous year. In November the trade balance with Ireland was $6.0 billion in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Ireland was 41.3 per cent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $7.5 billion. Major product categories of imports from Ireland were Sitc931 (special transactions and commodities not classified according to kind), representing 30.2 percent of imports, Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542) 21.5 % and Sitc515 (organo-inorganic compounds, heterocyclic compounds, nucleic acids and their salts, and sulphonamides) 15.0 % of the imports.

Exports to Ireland grew strongly over the previous year's November. The value of exports was $1.5 billion. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), which represented a share of 23.8 per cent of total exports, Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542) 18.9 % and Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) 8.8 % of the exports.

Development during January-November 2021

During January-November trade in goods with Ireland has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-November, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $80.1 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 16.6 percent. During January-November the value of imports was $67.7 billion. The export value was $12.4 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 13.1 % and the value of exports by 40.2 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), worth $17.5 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), worth being $2.4 billion. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-November remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $55.3 billion. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $51.0 billion.
