The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Ireland's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in April 2021 represented a share of 1.8 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 0.7% and 2.5% of imports. In April Ireland was USA's 15. largest foreign trade partner. Rise from the previous month 3 places. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. Amounting trade to worth of $6.5 billion was 10.1 per cent bigger than in April of the previous year. In April the trade balance with Ireland was $4.6 billion in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Ireland was 5.1 per cent higher than in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $5.6 billion. Major product categories of imports from Ireland were Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), representing 32.6 percent of imports, Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)) 20.1 % and Sitc515 (organo-inorganic compounds, heterocyclic compounds, nucleic acids and their salts, and sulphonamides) 14.0 % of the imports.

Exports to Ireland grew strongly over the previous year's April. The value of exports was $954 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), which represented a share of 17.9 per cent of total exports, Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)) 14.1 % and Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev) 10.3 % of the exports.

Development during January-April 2021

During January-April trade in goods with Ireland has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-April, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $26.8 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 2.7 percent. During January-April the value of imports was $23.1 billion. The export value was $3.7 billion. Compared to the corresponding period January - April in 2020, the value of imports during this period decreased by 0.2 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), worth $6.9 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542), worth being $738 million. The value of exports during this period increased by 24.9 %. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-April remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $19.4 billion. The trade deficit narrowed compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $20.1 billion.
