USA's foreign trade with Finland, exports to Finland and imports from Finland in April 2021

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In April Finland was USA's 46. largest foreign trade partner. Decrease from the previous month was 9 places. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. Amounting trade to worth of $847 million was 66.6 per cent bigger than in April of the previous year. In April the trade balance with Finland was $438 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Finland was 71.0 per cent higher than in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $643 million. Major product categories of imports from Finland were Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), representing 16.8 percent of imports, Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542) 12.2 % and Sitc641 (papper and paperboard) 11.7 % of the imports.

Exports to Finland grew strongly over the previous year's April. The value of exports was $204 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane), which represented a share of 21.0 per cent of total exports, Sitc512 (alcohols, phenols, phenol-alcohols, and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives) 13.1 % and Sitc283 (copper ores and concentrates; copper mattes; cement copper) 7.4 % of the exports.

Development during January-April 2021

During January-April, trade in goods with Finland has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-April of the previous year. Growth was as high as 31.1461960646999 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $2.7 billion. During January-April the value of imports was $2.1 billion. The export value was $516 million. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 39.2% and the value of exports by 5.7%. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth $295 million. In export the largest value had Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), worth being $52 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-April remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $1.6 billion. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $1.0 billion.
