USA's foreign trade with Norway, exports to Norway and imports from Norway in September 2022

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In September Norway was USA's 49. most important foreign trade partner. $865 million worth of trade was 2.6 per cent lower than in September of the previous year. In September the trade balance with Norway was $318 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Norway was 3.9 per cent higher than in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $592 million. Major product categories of imports from Norway were Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), representing 23.8 percent of imports, Sitc034 (fish, fresh (live or dead), chilled or frozen) 17.8 % and Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) 6.0 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Norway declined by 14.3 per cent compared to in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $274 million in September 2022. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc522 (inorganic chemical elements, oxides and halogen salts), which represented a share of 12.4 per cent of total exports, Sitc511 (hydrocarbons, n.e.s., and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives) 11.3 % and Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof) 10.3 % of the exports.

Development during January-September 2022

During January-September trade in goods with Norway has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-September, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $8.1 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 3.0 percent. During January-September the value of imports was $4.9 billion. The export value was $3.1 billion. Compared to the corresponding period January - September in 2021, the value of imports during this period decreased by 1.5 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc034 (fish, fresh (live or dead), chilled or frozen), worth $862 million. In export the largest value had Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), worth being $441 million. The value of exports during this period increased by 10.9 %. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-September remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $1.8 billion. The trade deficit narrowed compared to the corresponding period in 2021. At that time, the deficit was $2.2 billion.
