USA's foreign trade with Sweden, exports to Sweden and imports from Sweden in February 2025


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In February Sweden was USA's 32. most important foreign trade partner. $2.0 billion worth of trade was 3.7 per cent lower than in February of the previous year. In February the trade balance with Sweden was $636 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Sweden decreased by 7.1 per cent compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.3 billion in February 2025. Major product categories of imports from Sweden were Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), representing 14.8 percent of imports, Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542) 9.2 % and Sitc745 (non-electrical machinery, tools and mechanical apparatus and parts thereof, n.e.s.) 3.4 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Sweden were 3.5 percent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $688 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), which represented a share of 23.4 per cent of total exports, Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542) 16.2 % and Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane) 9.2 % of the exports.

Development during January-February 2025

During January-February trade in goods with Sweden has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-February, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $4.3 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 2.6 percent. During January-February the value of imports was $2.7 billion. The export value was $1.5 billion. Compared to the corresponding period January - February in 2024, the value of imports during this period decreased by 5.8 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), worth $399 million. In export the largest value had Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), worth being $357 million. The value of exports during this period increased by 22.1 %. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-February remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $1.2 billion. The trade deficit narrowed compared to the corresponding period in 2024. At that time, the deficit was $1.6 billion.
