Finland's foreign trade with Viet Nam, exports to Viet Nam and imports from Viet Nam in August 2026


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In August Viet Nam was Finland's 21. largest foreign trade partner. Rise from the previous month 7 places. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to Finland. Viet Nam's share of Finland's foreign trade in goods in August 2026 represented a share of 1.2 per cent. Share of Finland's that month's exports was 0.3 % and 1.9 % of imports. Amounting trade to worth of €163 million was 119.2 per cent bigger than in August of the previous year. For Finland, the trade balance with Viet Nam was in considerable deficit in August. The amount of the month's deficit was €119 million.

The value of imports from Viet Nam was 223.3 per cent higher than in August of the previous year, thus amounting now to €141 million. Major product categories of imports from Viet Nam were Sitc 759 (parts and accessories (other than covers, carrying cases and the like) suitable for use solely or principally with machines falling withing groups 751 and 752), representing 25.9 per cent of imports, Sitc 764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76) 17.0 % and Sitc 752 (automatic data-processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, n.e.s.) 11.6 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Viet Nam declined by 29.2 per cent compared to August of the previous year, thus amounting to €22 million in August 2026. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc 776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), which represented a share of 63.4 per cent of total exports, Sitc 728 (other machinery and equipment specialized for particular industries; parts thereof, n.e.s.) 10.2 % and Sitc 771 (electric power machinery (other than rotating electric plant of group 716) and parts thereof) 4.5 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods between Finland and Viet Nam in early 2026

During January-August, trade in goods with Viet Nam has grown faster than Finnish trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-August of the previous year. Growth was as high as 52.7 per cent and the value of the trade increased to €912 million. During January-August the value of imports was €693 million. The export value was €219 million. Compared to the corresponding period in 2025, the value of imports during this period increased by 88.9 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc 764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76), worth €186 million. In export the largest value had Sitc 776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), worth being €137 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 5.0 %. From Finland's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-August remained in deficit. The trade deficit was €474 million. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2025. At that time, the deficit was €137 million.
