Finland's foreign trade with Ireland, exports to Ireland and imports from Ireland in Juli 2026

In Juli Ireland was Finland's 33. largest foreign trade partner. Weakening from the previous month was 6 places. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to Finland. In Juli 2026 Ireland represented 0.6 per cent of Finland's foreign trade in goods, 0.2 % of Finland's exports and 1.0 % of imports. Amounting trade to worth of €86 million was 40.5 per cent bigger than in Juli of the previous year. For Finland, the trade balance with Ireland was in considerable deficit in Juli. The amount of the month's deficit was €56 million.

The value of imports from Ireland was 80.0 per cent higher than in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting now to €71 million. Major product categories of imports from Ireland were Sitc 542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)), representing 27.0 per cent of imports, Sitc 759 (parts and accessories (other than covers, carrying cases and the like) suitable for use solely or principally with machines falling withing groups 751 and 752) 16.8 % and Sitc 551 (essential oils, perfume and flavour materials) 7.1 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Ireland declined by 31.3 per cent compared to Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to €15 million in Juli 2026. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc 641 (paper and paperboard), which represented a share of 13.1 per cent of total exports, Sitc 728 (other machinery and equipment specialized for particular industries; parts thereof, n.e.s.) 9.9 % and Sitc 872 (instruments and appliances, n.e.s., for medical, surgical, dental or veterinary purposes) 4.8 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods between Finland and Ireland in early 2026

During January-Juli, trade in goods with Ireland has grown faster than Finnish trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-Juli of the previous year. Growth was as high as 26.6 per cent and the value of the trade increased to €569 million. During January-Juli the value of imports was €387 million. The export value was €182 million. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 31.6 % and the value of exports by 17.0 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc 542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)), worth €68 million. In export the largest value had Sitc 792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), worth being €24 million. From Finland's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-Juli remained in deficit. The trade deficit was €205 million. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2025. At that time, the deficit was €138 million.
