In 2025 Germany was still Finland's biggest foreing trade partner. In 2025 the value of trade between Finland and Germany decreased (-4.6 per cent), thus amounting to EUR 17.7 billion.Trade decrease arises mainly from the decrease in the value of exports. The balance of trade between the countries has been after 2002 to Finland in deficit. The trade deficit in 2025 fell to highest during the review period, and is now EUR 3.0 billion.

Between 2002-2025 Finnish exports to Germany peaked in 2018, at the time valued at EUR 9.7 billion Euro. Finland's export to Germany in 2025 was EUR 7.3 billion Euro. The largest product groups of exports were paper and paperboard (Sitc 641), which represented 12.7 per cent of the total exports, motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars (Sitc 781) 11.1 % and copper (Sitc 682) 9.3 % of the export. The strongest increase in exports was in following major product groups: motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars (Sitc 781) growth of 2 percent from the previous year, copper (Sitc 682) 6 % and paper and paperboard (Sitc 641) 1 %.

Imports from Germany in 2025, I was almost at the previous year's level in value of EUR 10.4 billion Euro. The largest product groups in imports from Germany were motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars (Sitc 781), which represented a share of 12.5 per cent of imports, parts and accessories of the motor vehicles of groups 722, 781, 782 and 783 (Sitc 784) 4.6 % and medicaments (including veterinary medicaments) (Sitc 542) 3.1 % of imports.
