USA's foreign trade with Libya, exports to Libya and imports from Libya in November 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In November Libya was USA's 78. most important foreign trade partner. Weakening from the previous month was 8 places. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. Amounting trade to worth of $236 million was 1,599.3 per cent bigger than in November of the previous year. In November the trade balance with Libya was $189 million in deficit for United States of America.

Imports from Libya grew strongly over the previous year's November. The value of imports was $212 million. More than half of the value of imports was in Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) representing a share of 98.8 per cent.

Exports to Libya grew strongly over the previous year's November. The value of exports was $24 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), which represented a share of 45.7 per cent of total exports, Sitc743 (pumps (other than pumps for liquids), air or other gas compressors and fans; ventilating or recycling hoods incorporating a fan, whether or not fitted with filters; centrifuges; filtering or purifying apparatus; parts thereof) 11.1 % and Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542) 7.3 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods in early 2021

During January-November, trade in goods with Libya has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-November of the previous year. Growth was as high as 386.3 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $2.3 billion. During January-November the value of imports was $2.1 billion. The export value was $251 million. Compared to the corresponding period in 2020, the value of imports during this period increased by 851.9 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), worth $2.0 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), worth being $102 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 2.5 %. The trade balance in goods between the two countries between January and November last year had been in surplus when it had a deficit in the corresponding period of the current year. The trade deficit was $1.8 billion.
