USA's foreign trade with Algeria, exports to Algeria and imports from Algeria in February 2025


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In February Algeria was USA's 71. most important foreign trade partner. Improvement from the previous month was 9 places. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. Amounting trade to worth of $360 million was 50.8 per cent bigger than in February of the previous year. In February the trade balance with Algeria was $236 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Algeria was 72.8 per cent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $298 million. More than half of the value of imports was in Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar) representing a share of 74.5 per cent. Other major categories of imports were Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), 18.4 per cent of imports and Sitc562 (fertilizers (other than those of group 272)) 6.5 %.

The value of exports to Algeria declined by 6.4 per cent compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $62 million in February 2025. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc714 (engines and motors, non-electric (other than those of groups 712, 713 and 718); parts, n.e.s., of these engines and motors), which represented a share of 13.1 per cent of total exports, Sitc899 (miscellaneous manufactured articles, n.e.s.) 12.2 % and Sitc573 (polymers of vinyl chloride or of other halogenated olefins, in primary forms) 11.0 % of the exports.

Development during January-February 2025

During January-February, trade in goods with Algeria has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-February, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $626 million. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 19.1 percent. During January-February the value of imports was $456 million. The export value was $171 million. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 9.8 % and the value of exports by 53.8 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth $297 million. In export the largest value had Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)), worth being $49 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-February remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $285 million. The trade deficit narrowed compared to the corresponding period in 2024. At that time, the deficit was $304 million.
