USA's foreign trade with Kuwait, exports to Kuwait and imports from Kuwait in September 2022


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In September Kuwait was USA's 63. most important foreign trade partner. Improvement from the previous month was 2 places. Most of the the value of trade consists of USA's exports to Kuwait. $447 million worth of trade was 2.1 per cent lower than in September of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Kuwait was $346 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Kuwait decreased strongly, by 64.1 per cent compared to in September of the previous year. The import amounted to $51 million in September 2022. More than half of the value of imports was in Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) representing a share of 74.1 per cent. The second major category of imports was Sitc931 (special transactions and commodities not classified according to kind), corresponding to the share of 25.3 per cent of imports.

The value of exports to Kuwait were 25.7 percent higher than in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $397 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc343 (natural gas, whether or not liquefied), which represented a share of 24.9 per cent of total exports, Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars) 22.7 % and Sitc598 (miscellaneous chemical products, n.e.s.) 5.5 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods in early 2022

During January-September, trade in goods with Kuwait has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-September of the previous year. Growth was as high as 31.2 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $4.0 billion. During January-September the value of imports was $1.3 billion. The export value was $2.7 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 90.9 % and the value of exports by 13.5 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth $630 million. In export the largest value had Sitc343 (natural gas, whether or not liquefied), worth being $608 million. The trade balance between USA and Kuwaitin between January and September was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $1.3 billion.
