USA's foreign trade with Kuwait, exports to Kuwait and imports from Kuwait in April 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In April Kuwait was USA's 61. largest foreign trade partner. Decrease from the previous month was 3 places. Amounting trade to worth of $411 million was 133.4 per cent bigger than in April of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Kuwait was $150 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Kuwait was 1473.7 per cent higher than in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $131 million. More than half of the value of imports was in Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) representing a share of 84.9 per cent. The second major category of imports was Sitc562 (fertilizers (other than those of group 272)), corresponding to the share of 11.7 per cent of imports.

Exports to Kuwait grew strongly over the previous year's April. The value of exports was $280 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc782 (motor vehicles for the transport of goods and special-purpose motor vehicles), which represented a share of 29.1 per cent of total exports, Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars) 12.3 % and Sitc343 (natural gas, whether or not liquefied) 7.6 % of the exports.

Development during January-April 2021

During January-April trade in goods with Kuwait has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-April, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $1.3 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 8.9 percent. During January-April the value of imports was $202 million. The export value was $1.1 billion. Compared to the corresponding period January - April in 2020, the value of imports during this period decreased by 33.3 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), worth $151 million. In export the largest value had Sitc782 (motor vehicles for the transport of goods and special-purpose motor vehicles), worth being $212 million. The value of exports during this period increased by 23.6 %. The trade balance between USA and Kuwaitin between January and April was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $866 million.
