USA's foreign trade with Azerbaijan, exports to Azerbaijan and imports from Azerbaijan in Juli 2023


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In Juli Azerbaijan was USA's 135. most important foreign trade partner. Weakening from the previous month was 13 places. Most of the the value of trade consists of USA's exports to Azerbaijan. Trade in goods between the countries of the month was considerably lower than in in Juli of the previous year. The value of the trade was $24 million and the drop was 61.6 %. During the month, the balance of trade with Azerbaijan was $12 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Azerbaijan decreased strongly, by 87.8 per cent compared to in Juli of the previous year. The import amounted to $5.9 million in Juli 2023. Major product categories of imports from Azerbaijan were Sitc684 (aluminium), representing 37.1 percent of imports, Sitc891 (arms and ammunition) 23.0 % and Sitc931 (special transactions and commodities not classified according to kind) 18.9 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Azerbaijan were 32.8 percent higher than in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to $18 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), which represented a share of 55.8 per cent of total exports, Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars) 3.7 % and Sitc874 (measuring, checking, analysing and controlling instruments and apparatus, n.e.s.) 3.5 % of the exports.

A sharp drop in trade in goods in early 2023

During January-Juli, trade in goods between the two countries declined sharply (-43.4 %) over the same period last year. The value of the trade was $124 million. During January-Juli the value of imports was $20 million. The export value was $104 million. Compared to the corresponding period January - Juli in 2022, the value of imports during this period decreased by 85.4 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc684 (aluminium), worth $8.1 million. In export the largest value had Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), worth being $26 million. The value of exports during this period increased by 28.1 %. The domestic trade balance between the two countries was in surplus, as it had remained in deficit in January-Juli of the previous year. The surplus was worth $84 million.
