USA's foreign trade with Armenia, exports to Armenia and imports from Armenia in February 2025


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In February Armenia was USA's 139. most important foreign trade partner. Weakening from the previous month was 3 places. Trade in goods between the countries of the month was considerably lower than in in February of the previous year. The value of the trade was $18 million and the drop was 35.2 %. During the month, the balance of trade with Armenia was $3.0 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Armenia decreased strongly, by 58.3 per cent compared to in February of the previous year. The import amounted to $7.5 million in February 2025. More than half of the value of imports was in Sitc667 (pearls and precious or semiprecious stones, unworked or worked) representing a share of 59.4 per cent. The second major category of imports was Sitc897 (jewellery, goldsmiths' and silversmiths' wares, and other articles of precious or semiprecious materials, n.e.s.), corresponding to the share of 7.1 per cent of imports.

The value of exports to Armenia were 7.3 percent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $11 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), which represented a share of 37.4 per cent of total exports, Sitc784 (parts and accessories of the motor vehicles of groups 722, 781, 782 and 783) 23.7 % and Sitc267 (other man-made fibres suitable for spinning; waste of man-made fibres) 8.8 % of the exports.

A sharp drop in trade in goods in early 2025

During January-February, trade in goods between the two countries declined sharply (-27.7 %) over the same period last year. The value of the trade was $35 million. During January-February the value of imports was $17 million. The export value was $19 million. Compared to the corresponding period in 2024, the value of imports decreased by 44.1 % and the value of exports by 1.5 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc667 (pearls and precious or semiprecious stones, unworked or worked), worth $9.1 million. In export the largest value had Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), worth being $7.6 million. The domestic trade balance between the two countries was in surplus, as it had remained in deficit in January-February of the previous year. The surplus was worth $1.7 million.
