Finland's foreign trade with Mexico, exports to Mexico and imports from Mexico in August 2026


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In August Mexico was Finland's 16. largest foreign trade partner. Rise from the previous month 15 places. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to Finland. In August 2026 Mexico represented 1.6 per cent of Finland's foreign trade in goods, 0.5 % of Finland's exports and 2.5 % of imports. Amounting trade to worth of €215 million was 42.2 per cent bigger than in August of the previous year. For Finland, the trade balance with Mexico was in considerable deficit in August. The amount of the month's deficit was €145 million.

The value of imports from Mexico was 45.6 per cent higher than in August of the previous year, thus amounting now to €180 million. The main part of the import value came from 752 (Sitc automatic data-processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, n.e.s.) imports, this representing 82.9 percent of total imports.

The value of exports to Mexico were 27.1 percent higher than in August of the previous year, thus amounting to €35 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc 641 (paper and paperboard), which represented a share of 43.3 per cent of total exports, Sitc 675 (flat-rolled products of alloy steel) 8.2 % and Sitc 723 (civil engineering and contractors' plant and equipment; parts thereof) 4.7 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods between Finland and Mexico in early 2026

During January-August, trade in goods with Mexico has grown faster than Finnish trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-August of the previous year. Growth was as high as 40.0 per cent and the value of the trade increased to €724 million. During January-August the value of imports was €426 million. The export value was €298 million. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 62.6 % and the value of exports by 16.8 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc 752 (automatic data-processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, n.e.s.), worth €193 million. In export the largest value had Sitc 641 (paper and paperboard), worth being €90 million. From Finland's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-August remained in deficit. The trade deficit was €128 million. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2025. At that time, the deficit was €6.6 million.
