Finland's foreign trade with Latvia, exports to Latvia and imports from Latvia in Juli 2026

In Juli 2026 Latvia represented 0.7 per cent of Finland's foreign trade in goods, 1.0 % of Finland's exports and 0.5 % of imports. In Juli Latvia was Finland's 30. largest foreign trade partner. Weakening from the previous month was 2 places. Trade in goods between the countries of the month was considerably lower than in in Juli of the previous year. The value of the trade was €97 million and the drop was 11.3 %. The trade balance with Latvia during the review month was very favorable for Finland. The surplus was €27 million.

The value of imports from Latvia decreased by 1.6 per cent compared to Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to €35 million in Juli 2026. Major product categories of imports from Latvia were Sitc 247 (wood in the rough, whether or not stripped of bark or sapwood, or roughly squared), representing 16.5 per cent of imports, Sitc 691 (structures and parts of structures, n.e.s., of iron, steel or aluminium) 10.4 % and Sitc 634 (veneers, plywood, particle board, and other wood, worked, n.e.s.) 9.2 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Latvia declined by 16.0 per cent compared to Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to €62 million in Juli 2026. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc 334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), which represented a share of 15.5 per cent of total exports, Sitc 781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars) 10.3 % and Sitc 891 (arms and ammunition) 8.2 % of the exports.

Development during January-Juli 2026

The trade in goods between January and Juli of 2026 was of lesser value than in the corresponding period of the previous year. The value of the trade was €853 million, down 10.9 %. During January-Juli the value of imports was €243 million. The export value was €610 million. Compared to the corresponding period in 2025, the value of imports decreased by 8.0 % and the value of exports by 12.0 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc 247 (wood in the rough, whether or not stripped of bark or sapwood, or roughly squared), worth €27 million. In export the largest value had Sitc 334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth being €214 million. The trade balance between Finland and Latvia between January and Juli was in surplus for Finland. The timing surplus was €367 million.
