USA's foreign trade with Philippines, exports to Philippines and imports from Philippines in September 2022

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In September Philippines was USA's 31. most important foreign trade partner. Philippines's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in September 2022 represented a share of 0.5 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 0.5 % and 0.5 % of imports. Amounting trade to worth of $2.3 billion was 6.9 per cent bigger than in September of the previous year. In September the trade balance with Philippines was $433 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Philippines was 6.4 per cent higher than in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.4 billion. Major product categories of imports from Philippines were Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), representing 11.8 percent of imports, Sitc773 (equipment for distributing electricity, n.e.s.) 6.3 % and Sitc752 (automatic data-processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, n.e.s.) 6.3 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Philippines were 7.7 percent higher than in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $928 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), which represented a share of 16.5 per cent of total exports, Sitc041 (wheat (including spelt) and meslin, unmilled) 14.6 % and Sitc223 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits, whole or broken, of a kind used for the extraction of other fixed vegetable oils (including flours and meals of oil-seeds or oleaginous fruit, n.e.s.)) 7.7 % of the exports.

Development during January-September 2022

During January-September trade in goods with Philippines has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-September, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $19.3 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 16.4 percent. During January-September the value of imports was $12.3 billion. The export value was $7.0 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 21.6 % and the value of exports by 8.1 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), worth $1.5 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), worth being $1.1 billion. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-September remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $5.3 billion. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2021. At that time, the deficit was $3.7 billion.
