USA's foreign trade with Philippines, exports to Philippines and imports from Philippines in Juli 2021

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In Juli Philippines was USA's 32. most important foreign trade partner. Amounting trade to worth of $1.8 billion was 9.4 per cent bigger than in Juli of the previous year. In Juli the trade balance with Philippines was $411 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Philippines was 11.7 per cent higher than in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.1 billion. Major product categories of imports from Philippines were Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), representing 11.5 percent of imports, Sitc759 (parts and accessories (other than covers, carrying cases and the like) suitable for use solely or principally with machines falling withing groups 751 and 752) 7.3 % and Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76) 6.7 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Philippines were 5.9 percent higher than in Juli of the previous year, thus amounting to $706 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), which represented a share of 16.5 per cent of total exports, Sitc041 (wheat (including spelt) and meslin, unmilled) 11.0 % and Sitc223 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits, whole or broken, of a kind used for the extraction of other fixed vegetable oils (including flours and meals of oil-seeds or oleaginous fruit, n.e.s.)) 8.4 % of the exports.

Development during January-Juli 2021

During January-Juli trade in goods with Philippines has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-Juli, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $12.4 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 18.7 percent. During January-Juli the value of imports was $7.6 billion. The export value was $4.9 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 26.2% and the value of exports by 8.6%. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc759 (parts and accessories (other than covers, carrying cases and the like) suitable for use solely or principally with machines falling withing groups 751 and 752), worth $827 million. In export the largest value had Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), worth being $846 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-Juli remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $2.7 billion. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $1.5 billion.
