USA's foreign trade with Greece, exports to Greece and imports from Greece in April 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In April Greece was USA's 68. largest foreign trade partner. Decrease from the previous month was 3 places. Amounting trade to worth of $277 million was 62.7 per cent bigger than in April of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Greece was $4.5 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Greece was 30.5 per cent higher than in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $136 million. Major product categories of imports from Greece were Sitc335 (residual petroleum products, n.e.s., and related materials), representing 14.9 percent of imports, Sitc056 (vegetables, roots and tubers, prepared or preserved, n.e.s.) 10.4 % and Sitc661 (lime, cement, and fabricated construction materials (except glass and clay materials)) 7.8 % of the imports.

Exports to Greece more than doubled from the previous year's April. The value of exports was $141 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof), which represented a share of 15.2 per cent of total exports, Sitc282 (ferrous waste and scrap; remelting scrap ingots of iron or steel) 10.4 % and Sitc288 (non-ferrous base metal waste and scrap, n.e.s.) 8.7 % of the exports.

Development during January-April 2021

During January-April 2021, the value of trade in goods between countries was lower than the corresponding period in the previous year. The value of the trade was $979 million, a decrease of 4.9 %. During January-April the value of imports was $502 million. The export value was $477 million. Compared to the corresponding period in 2020, the value of imports during this period increased by 10.2 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc056 (vegetables, roots and tubers, prepared or preserved, n.e.s.), worth $57 million. In export the largest value had Sitc343 (natural gas, whether or not liquefied), worth being $62 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 16.9 %. The trade balance in goods between the two countries between January and April last year had been in surplus when it had a deficit in the corresponding period of the current year. The trade deficit was $25 million.
