USA's foreign trade with Greece, exports to Greece and imports from Greece in November 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In November Greece was USA's 68. most important foreign trade partner. Amounting trade to worth of $335 million was 70.7 per cent bigger than in November of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Greece was $24 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Greece was 75.2 per cent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $156 million. Major product categories of imports from Greece were Sitc056 (vegetables, roots and tubers, prepared or preserved, n.e.s.), representing 11.9 percent of imports, Sitc684 (aluminium) 10.6 % and Sitc335 (residual petroleum products, n.e.s., and related materials) 10.1 % of the imports.

Exports to Greece grew strongly over the previous year's November. The value of exports was $179 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc343 (natural gas, whether or not liquefied), which represented a share of 26.7 per cent of total exports, Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane) 16.9 % and Sitc335 (residual petroleum products, n.e.s., and related materials) 10.6 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods in early 2021

During January-November trade in goods with Greece has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-November of the previous year. Growth was as high as 21.2 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $3.0 billion. During January-November the value of imports was $1.5 billion. The export value was $1.4 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 31.7 % and the value of exports by 11.6 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc056 (vegetables, roots and tubers, prepared or preserved, n.e.s.), worth $178 million. In export the largest value had Sitc343 (natural gas, whether or not liquefied), worth being $289 million. The trade balance in goods between the two countries between January and November last year had been in surplus when it had a deficit in the corresponding period of the current year. The trade deficit was $123 million.
