USA's foreign trade with Spain, exports to Spain and imports from Spain in April 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Spain's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in April 2021 represented a share of 0.7 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 0.8% and 0.7% of imports. In April Spain was USA's 26. largest foreign trade partner. Amounting trade to worth of $2.7 billion was 24.3 per cent bigger than in April of the previous year. In April the trade balance with Spain was $362 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Spain was 17.6 per cent higher than in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.5 billion. Major product categories of imports from Spain were Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)), representing 10.1 percent of imports, Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar) 5.5 % and Sitc718 (power-generating machinery and parts thereof, n.e.s.) 4.1 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Spain were 34.4 percent higher than in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.2 billion. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)), which represented a share of 17.2 per cent of total exports, Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) 10.9 % and Sitc343 (natural gas, whether or not liquefied) 10.5 % of the exports.

Development during January-April 2021

During January-April 2021, the value of trade in goods between countries was lower than the corresponding period in the previous year. The value of the trade was $10.2 billion, a decrease of 2.3 %. During January-April the value of imports was $5.5 billion. The export value was $4.7 billion. Compared to the corresponding period in 2020, the value of imports during this period increased by 2.8 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)), worth $502 million. In export the largest value had Sitc542 (medicaments (including veterinary medicaments)), worth being $785 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 7.6 %. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-April remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $869 million. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $335 million.
