USA's foreign trade with Lithuania, exports to Lithuania and imports from Lithuania in November 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In November Lithuania was USA's 71. most important foreign trade partner. Improvement from the previous month was 7 places. Amounting trade to worth of $312 million was 35.7 per cent bigger than in November of the previous year. In November the trade balance with Lithuania was $118 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Lithuania was 56.3 per cent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $215 million. Major product categories of imports from Lithuania were Sitc598 (miscellaneous chemical products, n.e.s.), representing 19.2 percent of imports, Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar) 15.3 % and Sitc562 (fertilizers (other than those of group 272)) 14.2 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Lithuania were 5.1 percent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $97 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), which represented a share of 41.2 per cent of total exports, Sitc515 (organo-inorganic compounds, heterocyclic compounds, nucleic acids and their salts, and sulphonamides) 8.4 % and Sitc057 (fruit and nuts (not including oil nuts), fresh or dried) 5.6 % of the exports.

Significant increase in trade in goods in early 2021

During January-November, trade in goods with Lithuania has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-November of the previous year. Growth was as high as 58.5 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $3.1 billion. During January-November the value of imports was $2.0 billion. The export value was $1.1 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 80.0 % and the value of exports by 31.7 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc598 (miscellaneous chemical products, n.e.s.), worth $427 million. In export the largest value had Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), worth being $339 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-November remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $811 million. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $217 million.
