USA's foreign trade with Lithuania, exports to Lithuania and imports from Lithuania in September 2023


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program.

In September Lithuania was USA's 72. most important foreign trade partner. Weakening from the previous month was 11 places. Trade in goods between the countries of the month was considerably lower than in in September of the previous year. The value of the trade was $361 million and the drop was 18.2 %. During the month, the balance of trade with Lithuania was $66 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Lithuania decreased by 23.4 per cent compared to in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $147 million in September 2023. Major product categories of imports from Lithuania were Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), representing 28.2 percent of imports, Sitc598 (miscellaneous chemical products, n.e.s.) 17.1 % and Sitc821 (furniture and parts thereof; bedding, mattresses, mattress supports, cushions and similar stuffed furnishings) 13.0 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Lithuania declined by 14.1 per cent compared to in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $214 million in September 2023. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), which represented a share of 39.9 per cent of total exports, Sitc343 (natural gas, whether or not liquefied) 20.3 % and Sitc034 (fish, fresh (live or dead), chilled or frozen) 10.4 % of the exports.

Development during January-September 2023

During January-September 2023, the value of trade in goods between countries was lower than during the corresponding period in the previous year. The value of the trade was $3.8 billion, a decrease of 0.7 %. During January-September the value of imports was $1.7 billion. The export value was $2.2 billion. Compared to the corresponding period January - September in 2022, the value of imports during this period decreased by 12.8 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth $706 million. In export the largest value had Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), worth being $723 million. The value of exports during this period increased by 11.1 %. The trade balance between USA and Lithuanian between January and September was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $517 million.
