USA's foreign trade with Hungary, exports to Hungary and imports from Hungary in September 2022

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In September Hungary was USA's 48. most important foreign trade partner. Improvement from the previous month was 4 places. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. Amounting trade to worth of $926 million was 18.3 per cent bigger than in September of the previous year. In September the trade balance with Hungary was $546 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Hungary was 42.0 per cent higher than in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $736 million. Major product categories of imports from Hungary were Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), representing 15.4 percent of imports, Sitc778 (electrical machinery and apparatus, n.e.s.) 11.8 % and Sitc752 (automatic data-processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, n.e.s.) 6.4 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Hungary declined by 28.2 per cent compared to in September of the previous year, thus amounting to $190 million in September 2022. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc714 (engines and motors, non-electric (other than those of groups 712, 713 and 718); parts, n.e.s., of these engines and motors), which represented a share of 14.4 per cent of total exports, Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76) 11.9 % and Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev) 5.8 % of the exports.

Development during January-September 2022

During January-September trade in goods with Hungary has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During January-September, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $7.6 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 4.3 percent. During January-September the value of imports was $5.7 billion. The export value was $2.0 billion. Compared to the corresponding period in 2021, the value of imports during this period increased by 10.9 %. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars), worth $897 million. In export the largest value had Sitc714 (engines and motors, non-electric (other than those of groups 712, 713 and 718); parts, n.e.s., of these engines and motors), worth being $313 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 11.2 %. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-September remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $3.7 billion. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2021. At that time, the deficit was $2.9 billion.
