More than half of the value of imports was in Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude) representing a share of 54.9 per cent. Other major categories of imports were Sitc036 (crustaceans, molluscs and aquatic invertebrates, whether in shell or not, fresh (live or dead), chilled, frozen, dried, salted or in brine; crustaceans, in shell, cooked by steaming or boiling in water, whether or not chilled, frozen, dried, salted o), 12.1 per cent of imports and Sitc292 (crude vegetable materials, n.e.s.) 6.6 %.

The value of exports to Ecuador were 40.5 percent higher than in April of the previous year, thus amounting to $445 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), which represented a share of 17.7 per cent of total exports, Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane) 17.5 % and Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76) 5.4 % of the exports.

Development during January-April 2021

During January-April trade in goods with Ecuador has grown slower than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. The largest product group in terms of imports has been Sitc333 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, crude), worth $1.2 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc334 (petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude); preparations, n.e.s., containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the prepar), worth being $391 million. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-April remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $932 million.
