USA's foreign trade with Tunisia, exports to Tunisia and imports from Tunisia in February 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In February Tunisia was USA's 93. largest foreign trade partner. Rise from the previous month 6 places. $80 million worth of trade was 5.5 per cent lower than in February of the previous year. In February the trade balance with Tunisia was $5.0 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Tunisia decreased by 16.7 per cent compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $43 million in February 2021. Major product categories of imports from Tunisia were Sitc421 (fixed vegetable fats and oils, *soft*, crude, refined or fractionated), representing 35.9 percent of imports, Sitc772 (electrical apparatus for switching or protecting electrical circuits or for making connections to or in electrical circuits (e.g., switches, relays, fuses, lightning arresters, voltage limiters, surge suppressors, plugs and sockets, lamp-holders and) 9.0 % and Sitc716 (rotating electric plant and parts thereof, n.e.s.) 4.9 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Tunisia were 11.6 percent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $38 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc044 (maize (not including sweet corn), unmilled), which represented a share of 43.6 per cent of total exports, Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)) 20.6 % and Sitc335 (residual petroleum products, n.e.s., and related materials) 6.9 % of the exports.

Development during January-February 2021

During January-February, trade in goods with Tunisia has grown faster than USA's trade in goods with the rest of the world. During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-February of the previous year. Growth was as high as 30.7872090049677 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $192 million. During January-February the value of imports was $95 million. The export value was $97 million. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 14.5% and the value of exports by 52.0%. The largest value in imports was in Sitc421 (fixed vegetable fats and oils, *soft*, crude, refined or fractionated), worth $41 million. In export the largest value had Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)), worth being $27 million. The domestic trade balance between the two countries was in surplus, as it had remained in deficit in January-February of the previous year. The surplus was worth $1.5 million.
