USA's foreign trade with Tunisia, exports to Tunisia and imports from Tunisia in November 2020


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In November Tunisia was USA's 84. largest foreign trade partner. Decrease from the previous month was 9 places. Amounting trade to worth of $114 million was 45.2 per cent bigger than in November of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Tunisia was $18 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Tunisia was 34.2 per cent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $48 million. Major product categories of imports from Tunisia were Sitc421 (fixed vegetable fats and oils, *soft*, crude, refined or fractionated), representing 46.1 percent of imports, Sitc772 (electrical apparatus for switching or protecting electrical circuits or for making connections to or in electrical circuits (e.g., switches, relays, fuses, lightning arresters, voltage limiters, surge suppressors, plugs and sockets, lamp-holders and) 6.8 % and Sitc713 (internal combustion piston engines and parts thereof, n.e.s.) 4.4 % of the imports.

Exports to Tunisia grew strongly over the previous year's November. The value of exports was $66 million. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)), which represented a share of 68.2 per cent of total exports, Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof) 9.4 % and Sitc335 (residual petroleum products, n.e.s., and related materials) 2.3 % of the exports.

Development during January-November 2020

During January-November, the value of trade in goods between the two countries rose to $881 million. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 6.3 percent. During January-November the value of imports was $520 million. The export value was $361 million. Compared to the corresponding period in 2019, the value of imports during this period increased by 22.1 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc421 (fixed vegetable fats and oils, *soft*, crude, refined or fractionated), worth $248 million. In export the largest value had Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)), worth being $116 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 10.4 %. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-November remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $159 million. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2019. At that time, the deficit was $23 million.
