USA's foreign trade with Morocco, exports to Morocco and imports from Morocco in February 2021


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In February Morocco was USA's 61. largest foreign trade partner. Decrease from the previous month was 4 places. $313 million worth of trade was 16.0 per cent lower than in February of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Morocco was $137 million of surplus.

The value of imports from Morocco decreased by 1.5 per cent compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $88 million in February 2021. Major product categories of imports from Morocco were Sitc057 (fruit and nuts (not including oil nuts), fresh or dried), representing 20.9 percent of imports, Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev) 17.0 % and Sitc784 (parts and accessories of the motor vehicles of groups 722, 781, 782 and 783) 7.9 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Morocco declined by 20.7 per cent compared to in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $225 million in February 2021. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc081 (feeding stuff for animals (not including unmilled cereals)), which represented a share of 15.3 per cent of total exports, Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane) 15.0 % and Sitc044 (maize (not including sweet corn), unmilled) 12.1 % of the exports.

Development during January-February 2021

During January-February, trade in goods between the two countries declined sharply (-22.2 %) over the same period last year. The value of the trade was $597 million. During January-February the value of imports was $162 million. The export value was $434 million. Compared to the corresponding period in 2020, the value of both imports and exports decreased significantly. The decline in imports was -20.3 % and in the value of exports -22.8 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc057 (fruit and nuts (not including oil nuts), fresh or dried), worth $27 million. In export the largest value had Sitc342 (liquefied propane and butane), worth being $98 million. The trade balance between USA and Moroccon between January and February was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $272 million.
