USA's foreign trade with Australia, exports to Australia and imports from Australia in November 2020


The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Australia's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in November 2020 represented a share of 0.8 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 1.6% and 0.4% of imports. In November Australia was USA's 21. largest foreign trade partner. $2.8 billion worth of trade was 8.8 per cent lower than in November of the previous year. During the month, the balance of trade with Australia was $1.1 billion of surplus.

The value of imports from Australia decreased by 4.3 per cent compared to in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $848 million in November 2020. Major product categories of imports from Australia were Sitc011 (meat of bovine animals, fresh, chilled or frozen), representing 12.5 percent of imports, Sitc012 (other meat and edible meat offal, fresh, chilled or frozen (except meat and meat offal unfit or unsuitable for human consumption)) 8.0 % and Sitc541 (medicinal and pharmaceutical products, other than medicaments of group 542) 6.9 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Australia declined by 10.6 per cent compared to in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $2.0 billion in November 2020. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc782 (motor vehicles for the transport of goods and special-purpose motor vehicles), which represented a share of 6.4 per cent of total exports, Sitc723 (civil engineering and contractors' plant and equipment; parts thereof) 4.2 % and Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars) 4.2 % of the exports.

Development during January-November 2020

During January-November, the value of goods between the two countries rose to $34.4 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 3.5 percent. During January-November the value of imports was $12.9 billion. The export value was $21.5 billion. Compared to the corresponding period in 2019, the value of imports during this period increased by 29.1 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc971 (gold,non-monetary), worth $2.6 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76), worth being $941 million. The value of exports during this period decreased by 7.5 %. The trade balance between USA and Australian between January and November was in surplus for USA. The timing surplus was $8.6 billion.
