USA's foreign trade with Taiwan, exports to Taiwan and imports from Taiwan in November 2020

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Taiwan's share of USA's foreign trade in goods in November 2020 represented a share of 2.4 per cent. Share of USA's that month's exports was 2.0% and 2.6% of imports. In November Taiwan was USA's nineth largest foreign trade partner. Amounting trade to worth of $8.0 billion was 10.9 per cent bigger than in November of the previous year. In November the trade balance with Taiwan was $2.9 billion in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Taiwan was 21.8 per cent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $5.4 billion. Major product categories of imports from Taiwan were Sitc752 (automatic data-processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, n.e.s.), representing 13.6 percent of imports, Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76) 10.9 % and Sitc759 (parts and accessories (other than covers, carrying cases and the like) suitable for use solely or principally with machines falling withing groups 751 and 752) 8.1 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Taiwan declined by 6.6 per cent compared to in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $2.6 billion in November 2020. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), which represented a share of 11.2 per cent of total exports, Sitc728 (other machinery and equipment specialized for particular industries; parts thereof, n.e.s.) 10.9 % and Sitc792 (aircraft and associated equipment; spacecraft (including satellites) and spacecraft launch vehicles; parts thereof) 9.6 % of the exports.

Development during January-November 2020

During January-November, the value of goods between the two countries rose to $82.5 billion. Growth compared to the corresponding period of the previous year was 5.8 percent. During January-November the value of imports was $54.7 billion. The export value was $27.8 billion. Compared to the corresponding period in 2019, the value of imports during this period increased by 10.7 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc752 (automatic data-processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, n.e.s.), worth $7.9 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc728 (other machinery and equipment specialized for particular industries; parts thereof, n.e.s.), worth being $3.5 billion. The value of exports during this period decreased by 2.7 %. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-November remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $26.9 billion. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2019. At that time, the deficit was $20.9 billion.
