USA's foreign trade with China, exports to China and imports from China in February 2021

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Trade with China represented in February of 2021, 13.7 per cent share of USA's foreign trade in goods, 7.6% of USA's exports and 17.6% of imports. In February China was USA's third largest foreign trade partner. Rise from the previous month 2 places. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. Amounting trade to worth of $43.4 billion was 46.6 per cent bigger than in February of the previous year. In February the trade balance with China was $24.6 billion in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from China was 49.2 per cent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $34.0 billion. Major product categories of imports from China were Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76), representing 13.1 percent of imports, Sitc752 (automatic data-processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, n.e.s.) 11.1 % and Sitc894 (baby carriages, toys, games and sporting goods) 6.8 % of the imports.

The value of exports to China were 38.1 percent higher than in February of the previous year, thus amounting to $9.4 billion. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), which represented a share of 10.4 per cent of total exports, Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)) 7.5 % and Sitc728 (other machinery and equipment specialized for particular industries; parts thereof, n.e.s.) 4.6 % of the exports.

Development during January-February 2021

During this year trade in goods between countries was significantly higher than in January-February of the previous year. Growth was as high as 36.0591654225273 per cent and the value of the trade increased to $95.4 billion. During January-February the value of imports was $73.1 billion. The export value was $22.3 billion. Compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the value of imports increased by 30.4% and the value of exports by 58.7%. The largest value in imports was in Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76), worth $10.2 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)), worth being $3.3 billion. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-February remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $50.9 billion. The trade deficit continued to widen compared to the corresponding period in 2020. At that time, the deficit was $42.1 billion.
