USA's foreign trade with China, exports to China and imports from China in November 2020

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

Trade with China represented in November of 2020, 17.4 per cent share of USA's foreign trade in goods, 11.2% of USA's exports and 21.1% of imports. In November China was USA's largest foreign trade partner. Most of the value of trade between the countries consists of the import to USA. Amounting trade to worth of $59.0 billion was 26.8 per cent bigger than in November of the previous year. In November the trade balance with China was $30.7 billion in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from China was 23.1 per cent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $44.9 billion. Major product categories of imports from China were Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76), representing 21.7 percent of imports, Sitc752 (automatic data-processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, n.e.s.) 12.4 % and Sitc894 (baby carriages, toys, games and sporting goods) 8.0 % of the imports.

The value of exports to China were 40.3 percent higher than in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $14.2 billion. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)), which represented a share of 23.5 per cent of total exports, Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev) 6.6 % and Sitc781 (motor cars and other motor vehicles principally designed for the transport of persons (other than motor vehicles for the transport of ten or more persons, including the driver), including station-wagons and racing cars) 5.4 % of the exports.

Development during January-November 2020

During January-November 2020, the value of trade in goods between countries was lower than the corresponding period in the previous year. The value of the trade was $503.6 billion, a decrease of 2.3 %. During January-November the value of imports was $393.6 billion. The export value was $110.0 billion. Compared to the corresponding period January - November in 2019, the value of imports during this period decreased by 5.8 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76), worth $55.1 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc222 (oil-seeds and oleaginous fruits of a kind used for the extraction of *soft* fixed vegetable oils (excluding flours and meals)), worth being $11.4 billion. The value of exports during this period increased by 12.8 %. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-November remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $283.6 billion. The trade deficit narrowed compared to the corresponding period in 2019. At that time, the deficit was $320.4 billion.
