USA's foreign trade with Philippines, exports to Philippines and imports from Philippines in November 2020

The text of the following analysis is produced by a computer program. The program is a test version and its rule base at this stage is still quite limited.

In November Philippines was USA's 30. largest foreign trade partner. $1.6 billion worth of trade was 9.4 per cent lower than in November of the previous year. In November the trade balance with Philippines was $414 million in deficit for United States of America.

The value of imports from Philippines decreased by 2.7 per cent compared to in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $1.0 billion in November 2020. Major product categories of imports from Philippines were Sitc759 (parts and accessories (other than covers, carrying cases and the like) suitable for use solely or principally with machines falling withing groups 751 and 752), representing 11.5 percent of imports, Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev) 8.1 % and Sitc752 (automatic data-processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, n.e.s.) 7.0 % of the imports.

The value of exports to Philippines declined by 19.0 per cent compared to in November of the previous year, thus amounting to $599 million in November 2020. The largest product groups of exports were: Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), which represented a share of 20.9 per cent of total exports, Sitc041 (wheat (including spelt) and meslin, unmilled) 13.7 % and Sitc764 (telecommunications equipment, n.e.s., and parts, n.e.s., and accessories of apparatus falling within division 76) 7.4 % of the exports.

Development during January-November 2020

The trade in goods between January and November of 2020 was of lesser value than in the corresponding period of the previous year. The value of the trade was $17.3 billion, down 12.3 %. During January-November the value of imports was $10.2 billion. The export value was $7.1 billion. Compared to the corresponding period in 2019, the value of both imports and exports decreased significantly. The decline in imports was -13.1 % and in the value of exports -11.0 %. The largest value in imports was in Sitc759 (parts and accessories (other than covers, carrying cases and the like) suitable for use solely or principally with machines falling withing groups 751 and 752), worth $1.2 billion. In export the largest value had Sitc776 (thermionic, cold cathode or photo-cathode valves and tubes (e.g., vacuum or vapour or gas-filled valves and tubes, mercury arc rectifying valves and tubes, cathode-ray tubes, television camera tubes); diodes, transistors and similar semiconductor dev), worth being $1.4 billion. From USA's point of view, the trade balance between the countries in January-November remained in deficit. The trade deficit was $3.1 billion. The trade deficit narrowed compared to the corresponding period in 2019. At that time, the deficit was $3.8 billion.
